My students need Spinballs as a fun indoor option for PE. Spinballs provide children with fun exercise to express oneself while improving hand-eye coordination, dexterity, and flexibility.
I have 24 students ranging from grades K-4 in our multiage Project-Based Learning public school classroom. This magnet program is open to all students within and outside of our school district, and provides an option for students to learn through doing, playing, and creating.
Our school focuses on providing a diverse range of high-interest classes and programs to engage our students and keep them invested in their learning.
Our K-4 program is housed at a middle school- a vibrant learning community within our small town. We are a town of about 1,200 residents, and our school serves approximately 250 students, the majority of whom receive free breakfast and lunch.
In our classroom, we focus on inquiry and hands-on STEAM activities while focusing on the whole child's development. We embrace 21st century skills such as communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity.
My Project
We all know the importance of life-long fitness. However, many kids don't see themselves as athletic because they do not enjoy or excel at 'traditional' team sports.
My goal through introducing Spinballs is to provide a fun and different fitness activity where students can progress and challenge themselves.
There are endless tricks to learn as you advance through the different levels of poi.
We will use the Spinballs weekly as an indoor PE option, as well as an option during student choice time. My students will enjoy developing gross motor skills and coordination through this fun and high-interest performance art.
