I have 18 wonderful first grade students. I have nine boys and nine girls. They are full of personality and spunk! We love to read and write in our journals. We also love learning new things and using hands-on materials.
Overall, majority of my students are from a low economic household.
The whole school is on the free and reduced lunch program. Also, the majority of my students come from a broken household. Whether their parents are divorced or an immediate family member may be in jail.
My students are very grateful for anything that will help them thrive in the school environment. We appreciate all of your help.
My Project
Using a big book easel will make a difference in my students' learning because it allows them to visualize the book in an easier manner. Right now, I am holding the big book while reading to them and it is hard to keep the pages from flipping back and forth. We have a big book easel right now but it came to us broken so we never got to utilize the item like we should have.
Using a bench for reading time will not only allow us extra book space but it will allow my students an alternative seat to enjoy a great book.
We would use the bench for flexible seating during reading time. Our reading block is all morning long. My students will utilize this item for at least half of their school day.
