My students need three Chromebooks to use for their Pre-K literacy programs in class.

My students! Who are they? They are an eager group of 2nd graders who just happen to live in a low socio-economic community and 90% of them are receiving free/reduced lunches. However, my students come to school eager and ready to tackle any obstacle that's placed before them. Our school serves students in grades K-8 and provides rigorous academics, fantastic teachers, and a safe learning environment.
Since the hurricane, I have received an influx of about 12 displaced students who are ready to learn but lack the necessary resources needed to make the grade and compete with their peers in the STEAM field.
As a result, I am consistently pushing for my students to be the best they can be despite where they come from. My goal is to prepare my students for success in high school and college and beyond.
Receiving a laptop and chrome books for center work and teacher lead would take them to a place of discovery and exploration as well as the help them feel independent as they research Science Inquiries and labor over Math Skills.
My district has invested in a research based, highly effective Pre-K program called Waterford Early Learning. This online program is individualized and shown to create lifelong learners. The problem is that many of my students are unable to continue their learning when they are outside of the school setting. Their parents are unable to experience what their children are learning, so they are unable to fully support it.
These chrome books could be checked out by parents to use over the weekend so that they can access public Wi-Fi, MacDonalds, Dunkin Donuts and the library so their families will get involved with school learning.
These Chromebooks will help to develop early literacy skills and help involve parents in the school learning environment.
The Chromebooks will also be used to provide individualized instruction that targets each students' needs through educational platforms such as ABCmouse, Starfall, Code and Science A-Z.
