Getting Ready for Kindergarten With Personal Storage!
My students need a way to quickly grab their items when we are transitioning from one activity to another. The chair pockets will provide a place for them to store their personal learning tools!
I have yet to meet my new kiddos for the school year, but the organization and planning starts now. With roughly 2 weeks of summer vacation left, my mind is already filled with how to welcome my new little ones into the classroom.
The first impression is always important - I want my students to feel welcomed, included and inspired when they walk through my door on that very first day.
Although many students will have had some educational experiences in the form of preschool or TK, some of my students will be coming to school for the very first time. I want them to walk into a community that fosters their love of learning and encourages them to make mistakes while on the path to success - this year and throughout their lives.
My Project
With kindergarten being the first educational experience for many students, it is important for them to learn how to neatly organize their belongings. The chair pocket storage offers a great solution - students will be able to quickly grab their learning tools for each activity without getting into squibs about which pencil belongs to whom.
Independence is a key learning goal in the classroom - with students having their tools at their fingertips, this will allow them to flex their independence and choose which tool to use in certain activities.
Not only will they learn about organization and taking care of their tools, they will learn to make choices according to the differing situations.
Privacy folders will also play a key role for those students who work better when in a quiet environment and offers them that choice when they feel it is needed.
