Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income, high poverty school, I see that my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. I am looking to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.

My students are creative, clever and very spontaneous.

They like to move, read, and love lots of positive attention. Many of them are being raised in single-parent households and receive a free breakfast and lunch.

From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on their potential and growth. I may not be able to control their home lives; however, I can control their experiences during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hoping to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.

My Project

This has been one of the BEST school years I've ever had. It has been hard work and there have been some tears shed. There have also been many victories.

This is an amazing group of students will remain in my heart for years to come.

They have learned and worked so hard on everything I have taught them. I believe they are ready for some 3rd grade material to help get them ready for next year. I have very few 3rd grade resources and I want to find some fun lessons for them. Teacherspayteachers.com is a website full of lessons you can purchase. The requested gift card will allow me the time to research and see what lessons will most benefit my students. We also need pencils and paper to complete assignments. Thank you for helping to encourage them to keep learning.
