My fourth graders are excited about team teaching! They love having two teachers. Our largest obstacle is organization, as we do not have enough cubbies in each classroom for all students to have a "home". We want to help our students become better organized to prepare them for middle school!
My students are eager fourth grade learners in North Carolina.
Our school has a free and reduced lunch rate of approximately 42%, yet have ever 72% of our students meeting grade level expectations on standardized tests. We have a very diverse student population which includes a high amount of English Language Learners.
My Project
My students will use the materials I requested to store their notebooks, folders, and books when they come into my classroom instead of piling them on the floor of the classroom. Last year we had some near misses with accidents in which students were slipping on materials piled on the floor! I want to make sure all students are safe, and I think that these desk chair organizers are the key to providing both safety and organization for my students. The paper bins will be used to turn in homework and classwork.
My classroom will be improved because there will not be folders, binders, books, and pencil boxes all over the floor.
Students (and the teacher!) will be safe from stepping on materials on the floor. Students will also have a dedicated place to turn in homework and classwork papers. Helping them to become more organized is a good life skill for them to learn!
