My second-grade students are an energetic and fun-loving group of kids who come from various social and economic backgrounds. We are lucky to live in a tight-knit rural community that feels very much like a family. My students are eager learners and I am delighted daily by their enthusiasm towards school. I love watching them learn and explore the world around them.
Each one of my students approaches learning in their own unique way, some learn best with their hands while others learn best through listening and watching.
They work hard to learn new topics and love showing me what they know. We are a classroom community that supports each student's unique needs and diversity.
My Project
Multi-Sensory instruction of phonics has been proven to provide students with the best possible chance to close early learning gaps by using hands on manipulatives to gain a better understanding of how words come together.
By providing these materials you are giving all of my students a chance to deepen their learning of letters, letter sounds, word families and more.
Students will use the hands on items to review weekly spelling words, word families, syllable types, and common high frequency words. Why write your words five times each when you can build them with unifix cubes, or draw them in sand?! With the leveled high frequency words we are able to differentiate for our lowest to highest learners to ensure all students are enriched with these tools. The materials provide students with the ability to use all of there senses while they learn and keep them engaged with enjoyable activities.
