Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from southeast Houston. Most of my students are on free or reduced-price lunch. The apartments that surround the school that the majority of them live in was so devastated by Hurricane Harvey that most of my students' apartments were flooded and they needed to evacuate. Most of my students now are living with extended family, friends, or in a shelter.

Their lives have changed drastically just within the past weeks.

I want to help support them when they get to come back to school. School should be the place they feel safe and at home.

My Project

My students need a place to read their books in comfort. The chairs look like a comfortable place where several students can cuddle up and read a good book. The writing center will be ready and available for my students to use for quick readers response and/or activities. They can also use these to practice their reading skills. The storage bin is going to be a great place to organize our math manipulates and keep everything in its place. Our classroom still needs items to help get it organized to make transitioning to students easier. Thank you for reading my project.
