My students need materials to help stay organized while in the middle of projects. I need storage boxes and hanging files to help students keep track of work.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are 10th graders in a suburban high school in Houston, Texas. Many students like to move and love lots of positive attention. Many of them receive free or reduced-price lunch based on their socioeconomic status. These things prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the life experiences many of us see as "typical". I want them to feel comfortable in their learning environment from the moment they step into my classroom. Hopefully they will be able to see the classroom as a place they enjoy coming to, where they are able to forget their troubles, and have a fun learning environment.
My Project
Students often do not have a way to carry materials when projects are in progress. Scraps of paper tend to get lost or misplaced, and then the student has to start over. With these file boxes and folders, students can safely store their work while it is in progress, without worrying about something being lost. Students will learn the value or organization, and be able to have more pride in their work. They will see that taking care of materials will help their creativity bloom, as they are no longer worrying about what might get damaged or lost from one day to the next.
