I am so excited to meet my students. I really don't know anything about them yet, as I was just hired in my first teaching position a few days ago. I have very little time to prepare for the first day of school. I don't want them to feel like they have a teacher that doesn't care about them enough to have what they need to learn. I want them to get off to a running start! Please help me help them get excited about Science!
My Project
As a new teacher, I am grateful for all of the help I have received from my new colleagues in helping me begin to stock my classroom. However, I am still missing basic things like supplies for presentations, staples to fill my stapler, and tape for the students to organize their science journals.
I want my students to have the best opportunities to succeed.
My new school has given me a $230 allowance to stock my room, but as you can see from my list, that allowance won't even get close. I plan to use my allowance for more personal items and things that can be found more cheaply (such as clothes-pins, paperclips, storage bins, file folders, etc.) at someplace like the Dollar Store.
I want my money and your money to be used as effectively and economically as possible. I feel that this is the best way to be respectful of your generosity and provide the best learning environment for my students as possible.
Since I will be teaching Earth, Physical, and Life Sciences, I will need a wide range of supplies. I have asked for a weather tracker and inflatable globe to help the students better visualize and track the weather and to demonstrate different phenomena like fault lines and where different types of rock can be found.
For physical science we will be studying forces, chemistry, and atoms. I thought the Newton's Laws game would be engaging and a great hands-on activity.
For life science I have asked for 2 interactive cell models to show how cells are organized.
The rest are office and craft supplies that will be used on a regular basis for all lessons.
