Welcome to our second grade classroom! We are a Title One school with students from a variety of diverse backgrounds. Seventy-four percent of the students in our school are English Language Learners, and eighty percent are considered economically disadvantaged. Despite challenges, our students are loving, outgoing learners that are committed to helping their community and others.
Part of our school mission statement is to "develop students who will make meaningful contributions to the world and become independent, lifelong learners." In our classroom, we are always reaching towards this goal.
This year, our objective is to create a classroom environment that will prepare our students to become lifelong learners.
Engagement is a key to success in the classroom. The Get Your Teach On national conference will empower me with tools to continue to engage and inspire my students with modern day techniques and relatable resources to build life long learners. The importance and willingness to learn new and fresh ideas offer my students an inspirational light in their education.
Attending GYTO will give me the opportunity to connect with teachers from across the nation to discuss best practices, share strategies and tips, and find new and tangible ways of doing things to bring back to my classroom to share with my colleagues.
