My Students
My school is in a small, rural community in northern-lower Michigan. For the most part, my students come from a very low, socioeconomic status. Most depend on free or reduced rate breakfast and lunch, and food backpacks that are sent home weekly. Despite a lack of resources, they are truly some of the most loving and compassionate students I know. Every year, in lieu of a Christmas present exchange, my first graders collect and donate presents to a local children's hospital. They are a curious, hardworking, and kind-hearted group of children.
My Project
Get Your Teach On is a conference like no other. The conference is put on by master educators from around the country whose main focus is making the education process come alive. Get Your Teach On is known for igniting flames in teachers to develop new and innovative ways to present content. I believe this conference will increase motivation and excitement in teaching. It will also put me in direct communication with other teachers from around the world, leading to increased collaboration. To attend GYTO would be an absolute dream come true as an educator, having direct impacts on my students!
