Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a first grade teacher at a Title 1 school in California. Our school believes in a positive and supportive culture promoting communication, engagement, and teamwork amongst staff members, students, and their families. We are consistently one of the top-performing schools in our district. In fact, we were named a "Gold Ribbon School" by the California Department of Education!
Each year,in my first grade classroom, I am fortunate enough to be blessed with 25 plus students who are special and valued in their own unique way.
By teaching first grade in the same Title I school over the last four years, I've taken joy in being a part of a special school community where students, families, and teachers work together to give all kids a strong social-emotional and academic foundation.
My Project
The Get Your Teach On Conference will provide me with the opportunity to learn from some of the best educators in elementary education. There are several break out sessions for math and literacy strategies that are not only hands on and engaging, but also research-based. This is an opportunity to collaborate with teachers from across the United States to share ideas, strategies, and best practices to better reach the students in my classroom and in our school. My goal as an educator is for my students to leave my classroom wiser, kinder, and with the desire to be lifelong learners. This is a great opportunity for me to continue my growth as a teacher, and to become better equipped to help each student be successful.
