I need donations attend the 2020 National Get Your Teach On Conference in Orlando, FL in order to provide my students with rigorous and engaging strategies to enhance their everyday learning.
There are many descriptors that my first graders could go by - learners, mathematicians, readers, scientists, geographers, historians, friends, helpers, and thinkers - to name a few! Each day, students are learning to become independent thinkers while fostering the ability to work collaboratively. Parents report how excited their students are to come into school each day and learn with their teachers and classmates. Every student has a breadth of knowledge that he or she brings to the table. Both the school and my classroom are filled with culturally diverse learners. I learn just as much from my students as they learn from me!
We are a strong and diverse learning community.
In Lowell, Massachusetts where I teach, the entire district is able to receive free breakfast and lunch. I want the best for each and every one of my students and work hard to provide them with rich learning experiences. Students show appreciation through their engagement, smiles, laughter, and thank you’s. School should be fun and engaging, especially for those who may not necessarily have the world at their fingertips. My colleagues and I work collaboratively each day to assure that students’ needs are being met both academically and socially.
My Project
The Get Your Teach On National Conference experience includes four jam-packed days of professional development, where teachers truly get to experience being the student again. I will learn engaging ways to teach various subjects from at least ten presenters.
How can one not get excited with session titles such as, "Social Studies: A Different World," "Wild About Reading," and "Around the World With Books?" My teaching philosophy aligns with the GYTO team members - school should be a place where students want to go, not where they have to go!
By attending the conference, I can continue learning new ways to create life long learners.
