Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is a wonderful combination of Special Education, English Language Learners, and Regular Education students. Trying to teach mathematics has become a challenge for the vast majority of my students since they come from different countries and different learning experiences.
My students struggle to learn Algebra I because they have trouble relating mathematics to real life.
They enjoy researching new concepts to make sense of the problems they are given. Learning algebra is a little like learning another language. Students can try to learn it by memorizing, and they may get by okay, but they will not truly understand. They may not always be able to put all the pieces that they know together correctly because they don’t understand how all the pieces fit together
My Project
My students need a functional and organized classroom to create a smooth learning environment. Working in a low-income school, many of my students would come to school with very few school supplies. Sometimes they would show up without anything.
A sharpener will elevate the classroom effectiveness and will help students sharpen their pencils faster.
Although my students are becoming teenagers a stimulus with a stamp will put a smile on their face every time they do their assignments correctly. A calendar will advise them on relevant dates throughout the course. For example, their exams and homework due dates. A calculator pocket will help with the organization of the room.
Having a clean and organized classroom with effective tools will be the path of success of the upcoming class!
