My Students

My 7th grade social studies students are creative, thoughtful, and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box. Engaging my students is a challenge especially with digital-based learning and learning from at home.

Students login into school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically.

Truly, they are my inspiration!

Our students lack many of the resources that are credible for their learning needs. Over half of the students qualify for free or reduced lunch. My students do not have school-based resources that are relevant to the curriculum.

My Project

These books will continue to enhance the literacy rate of my middle school-aged students. My classroom book library is a place that my students really enjoy! Most of my current books dwindling from years of love and use. I have found most of these books out of my own expense at garage sales and thrift stores. Sadly, these current books are deteriorating fast. Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind-I have watched them the past few weeks of school read titles just like these, and I have also asked them what type of books they would enjoy reading. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time.

With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own Lexile level.

They will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
