My students need interesting and captivating books like Beezus and Ramona to increase their reading comprehension and explore the world of chapter books.
My students are a group of intelligent, driven and eager children. They enjoy learning but often have troubles learning traditionally.
My students enjoy having different ways to learn and thrive.
Many of our students are economically disadvantaged and miss many opportunities.
We have many challenges that we face daily when it comes to a positive learning environment for ALL of my students. We try daily for each child to be able to leave the classroom feeling loved and empowered. This is achieved by giving them as many opportunities to learn that they would not normally be exposed to. By funding projects through Donor's Choose we are able to offer these kids the world!
My Project
These early reader novels will help my students get lost in books and gain a love for reading. Many of my students are ready to move on to reading novels, however we do not have the resources to make this happen within our small groups.
This project will allow each student within our small groups to have a copy of the book in their hands to read and grow from.
Our classroom library consists of picture books and single copies of books. The ability to have multiple copies of these novels will allow students to work in small groups and learn the necessary literary skills needed to become strong readers and writiers. The fun characters and titles will allow my students to see that as readers we can get lost in another world. Reading is the gateway to education. If we can get them hooked in first grade they will be hooked for life!
