My Students

My students are the reason I love my job! They are excited to learn new things each and every day. In my classroom, students engage in reading, math, science, and social studies activities. They love to learn through music and hands-on experiences.

Learning can and should be fun!

Most of my students love to read and interact in classroom discussions. They are able to focus through lessons, in order to have time for the hands-on activities. However, as do all classrooms, I have those few students who struggle with focusing, not distracting other students and completing work.

Many of our students, 85% of my classroom, are on free or reduced lunch. Most of them lack educational experiences outside of the classroom. Despite this challenge, they come to school ready to learn and create a bright future for themselves.

My Project

Having completed my first book study this year, I learned the power this activity can hold. Having a good book in each student's hand, that captivates them, and leaves them wanting more is one of the best gifts a teacher can give.

The power of reading and cooperatively working together to understand what they read is one of my favorite ways to grow young minds.

During a novel study, students will both be read to and read independently. They are able to be exposed to books from all genres and in different reading levels.

In my class, we work through a few chapters at a time and analize what we read to meet as many 3rd grade standards as we can.
