Help me give my students a sets of sight word games to help build their literacy skills.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
As my students walk into the classroom, they are ready and eager to learn. Every day they share how much they enjoy coming to school. I want them to feel safe and know they can accomplish anything if they apply themselves. I teach at a school where it's income based and many of the children receive backpack food for the weekend.
My students come from different cultural backgrounds and I try to meet each student’s needs.
Regardless of their backgrounds, my students are excited to learn. They want to do their best in school and achieve their goals in life.
These new sight games will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. My classroom literacy area is a place that my students really enjoy to go and explore their literacy skills. By having a Fishing for Sight-Words-Complete Set will allow my students to engage with their classmates as they improve sight-word recognition as they play! Each colorful fish is printed with a high-frequency word. As children use the magnetic fishing pole to “catch” the fish, they learn to recognize sight-words more easily! The Magnetic Fishing Poles have magnetic “hooks”so students can easily catch any magnetic object! Also by having a Tower of Sight-Words Games Complete Set, is a fun-filled games help my students master sight-words! To play, students remove one block from the tower and read the sight-word aloud. Children get to keep the block if they read the word correctly…and if the tower crumbles, they’ll have to start again! The player with the most blocks at the end of the game wins! With these new sight words, my students will be able to choose from a variety of games that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level. They will also be able to choose games that interest them.
The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these sight games will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading.
My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
