My students need folders, pencils, pens, drafting paper and printing paper that will inspire them in all the stages of writing from listing idea to the final published writing piece.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Si se puede." is the slogan we have in my transitional bilingual classroom in Trenton, New Jersey. By providing opportunities for students of diverse cultural and economic backgrounds, these curious learners can believe that their goals are possible to achieve.
All my students have immigrated to the United States to access both the economic and educational advantages that exist here.
Their limited English proficiency is not limiting their desire to learn. They are eager to learn the required curriculum as they are developing skills in the English language.
These students have been in the country for no more than three years, and most have been here for less than a year. It is important that they participate in engaging and authentic activities to acquire their new language with confidence. As their teacher, I strive to provide them with an educational environment that fosters this growth!
My Project
It is important to foster independence in the classroom. By having easy access to needed writing materials (the folders, drafting paper, publishing paper, pencils, and pens), students are able to focus on their inspiration, vision and details that will transform lonely words into engaging narratives and essays. Students will also develop their second language as they transform their skills in their native language into the language of English.
This project will support the student centered atmosphere we are working to achieve by encouraging independence, promoting creativity, and inspiring authors to write various genres over an extended period of time.
When students write more, they challenge themselves academically, intellectually and personally.
