Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students I teach are a group of very special diverse learners. They are 3rd graders, but vary in ability from pre-k to 3rd grade. They are each making progress at their own rate.
My students have disabilities that vary, but one thing they have in common is the motivation to try their very best!
They are motivated by creative teaching and hands-on experiences in the classroom. They take pride in having classroom jobs and having success in their endeavors.
My Project
My class needs to improve in mathematics. In order for my class of diverse learners to better understand various concepts in math, they need to see it, and in many cases touch it, in order to come to a full understanding. So often, and to the amusement of my class, I find myself trying to draw 3 dimensional shapes and depict various coins and other things, to teach concepts. It would help them, and me, if we had the magnetic coins and shapes that have been selected. To reinforce learning, it would be wonderful for the students to be able to practice what they are learning with the Math Skills Activity Centers we have chosen.
