My students need better selections and multiple copies of great fiction and nonfiction books on their reading level. I believe a better selection of books will help my students grow a love of reading for knowledge!
Mrs. Catone's kindergarten kiddos are eager to learn and are excited about becoming "Super Readers!" Her kids love reading old favorites like The Little Red Hen, The Gingerbread Man, The Three Billy Goats Gruff, and Goldilocks and the Three Bears, just to name a few. They also enjoy reading nonfiction books to learn about the world, and they enjoy reading with a buddy to support each other as they grow as readers and learners.
Mrs. Catone's mission is to create students who have a great desire to learn to read and who love to talk about these rich stories, which will strengthen their comprehension.
Creating great readers and leaders is the focus of Mrs. Catone's school's mission, and she believes creating book lovers in kindergarten gives students the power to succeed in school and in life!
My Project
These new books will be put in the classroom library book baskets where students can access them anytime. Also, students will be able to keep books that are of high interest to them in their personal classroom book boxes and fill their "just right" bags with books to take home and read with their families. These new books will get students excited about reading and give them opportunities to grow as learners and readers. The multiple copies will also improve our buddy reading time, which is vital to kindergarteners as they gain confidence and fluency in reading.
With a better selection of fiction and non-fiction books at a level students can read and reread, I believe my students will learn to love reading and grow into great readers!
Having multiple copies of these great books is necessary for the success of our reading program.
