We are an inner-city school with a high poverty rate and ethnically diverse population. My students are creative and spend their days not only attending core classes like Math, Science, and English, but a variety of art classes like Drama, Martial Arts, Guitar, and Photography.
Our school prepares students for college in an academically challenging, arts-integrated environment.
Not only are my students involved in extra-curricular activities, they are dedicated to their grades. Many stay at school until five or six pm, either in tutoring or attending a club meeting. My students are well rounded and participate in activities like volleyball, ballroom dance, basketball, cheerleading and a variety of clubs from Student Council to National Honor Society and everything in between.
My Project
Each year as our team grows and the students on the team grow we need new uniforms and protective equipment to keep the students safe and performing at their best.
This project will help my martial arts team get the uniforms and protective equipment they need to compete and be successful.
At tournaments we compete against other teams in a variety of events, including 5 man team kata and 20 man team demo. This project also includes a sweatshirt they can wear to warm up before competing.
My students are always working hard and uniforms and equipment that fits them and is not run down is critical to both keeping them safe and helping them feel confident. When my team feels confident and safe they always perform better.
