"You can find magic wherever you look. Sit back and relax and all you need is a book." -Dr. Seuss
In our library the students are encouraged to read all different types of books to open different doors of magic.
Our elementary school is made up of approximately 800 students in grades K-5, with a large range in learning abilities and levels. These students visit the library once a week and are always eager to learn when they walk through the doors. Our school is in a small suburban community in Northern California just outside of San Francisco. Our 800 students are from many different cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds. Regardless of where they come from all students are encouraged to become responsible, respectful, safe, and kind individuals in the classroom and in the community.
My Project
Flexible seating will greatly impact students at our elementary school. This seating will be inviting to students and will provide them with different opportunities that a regular classroom desk offers. Kids learn in different ways and within different arrangements, it is important we offer a variety of learning environments.
Students in grades K-5 will have the opportunity to be kids and find a learning environment that is comfortable to them.
These comfy couches will allow students to have options to choose where they sit and learn. They will also be easy to move which will allow students to move throughout the library and to work in centers while completing lessons.
Studies have shown that moving around stimulates learning in the brain and these seats will allow students to get the most out of each lesson. This flexible seating will allow students to find an environment that is comfortable to them and encourages learning.
