This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach a bold group of very inquisitive, eager, and energetic students. My 3rd-grade class is full of students from various economic and social backgrounds. The students are from a small NC town in Martin County where most find refuge in coming to school.
My students love to READ!
They are also excited to learn techniques to help them comprehend in English Language Arts. Educational technology programs like Accelerated Reader gives them a goal to look forward to. They started off slowly, but now they are anxious to pick up their favorite book.
My students are confident and excited to show growth in any program or test they take. They love to see their success. They are happy to reach their AR levels and their goals of succeeding in the 3rd-grade.
Most of my students are faced with struggles in environments that are not positive influences in their academic success. They do not have resources at home to help them complete assignments or become prepared for upcoming tests.
My students need more resources, technology, and flexibility in the classroom. When they feel comfortable and safe, they are more willing to learn.
My Project
Flexible seating will allow my students to make a choice when they enter the room. They can choose the location for their best learning experience. My students currently choose which area rug they may work from during station time.
Flexible seating will help with their physical health.
All students need to move! Flexible seating encourages the students to pick their best spot to be productive. Flexible seating will also allow my students to be comfortable. The more comfortable the students are, the more focused they will be.
Flexible seating also encourages a community environment. It encourages students to collaborate together and commitment to learning.
Flexible seating makes it fun to learn! Students give their all when they are having fun. Flexible seating will make my students feel excited to learn!
