Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
First and second grade students are excited about learning! I love working with this age group because they bring so much enthusiasm into the classroom. They come in ready to learn and with smiles on their faces and hugging me all the time! It's absolutely precious.
They are mature enough to grasp difficult concepts but are also ready to play and laugh at the same time.
We work on being good citizens, kind humans, and of course on reaching the expectations in the curriculum. As a bilingual teacher, it's not as easy or affordable to find books in Spanish. I usually purchase books here and there, but making the library comfy and adding some new literature would be a great project to get funded! Teaching them makes me a better person and I am committed to giving them the education they deserve!
My Project
On this project I have included many resources to make my classroom library more comfortable and cozy for the first and second graders I will have this year! I have included 2 bean bag chairs, 4 flex-space wobble cushions, a rug, some puppets for retelling stories, and some great literature to get us started! I wanted to pep up my reading corner, with the goal of promoting a love of reading in my classroom! Students love having the option to read in cozy little spaces, especially when that includes fun and different types of seating! The chapter books included in this project will be used for different read alouds by the teacher in order to hook students and interest them in reading longer stories.
These resources will give my students a great start to their year - especially in the reading corner!
I have also included some office materials (scissors, etc) on this project and some math materials that would be extremely beneficial for my students! Math is going to be challenging this year since I will be responsible for teaching 2 grade levels at the same time! These resources will help me to be able to access what I need for each grade quickly!
