Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Imagine going to high school and working to support your family, being 16 years old and having to balance feeding your family, taking care of younger siblings, and doing school work. The school I work for is a Title I school. Many of them are first generation American. Some of them are going to be the first in their family to finish high school.
My kids are often not given the same opportunities.
My students do not have much but one thing that is inspiring is how much they are willing to give.I want more for my students. I want them to feel like anything is possible.
My Project
These materials will allow my students more flexibility to become creative. Students will be able to use clipboards to give one another feedback on their work. The magnetic poetry will allow students to manipulate language and translate sentences into the correct target language. The storytelling dice can be used to workshop creative stories into ASL. These tools will give my class the ability to develop grow in their lingustic and cultural knowledge of ASL.
As a teacher, my greatest desire is for my students to enjoy learning.
I hope that adding these classroom materials would help spark the love of learning in each of them. It is our jobs as educators to continuously push our students to dream of more. These resources will help my students learn and thrive.
