My spectacular second grade students are thinkers as I like to call them and come from all over the world. Many of them speak another language at home. Of my 18 students, seven are ELL (English Language Learners) and more than 65% qualify for free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch. Our school is located in an urban setting just steps away from the beach and serves a wide variety of students from diverse cultures and countries.
They are a very creative, detail-oriented, and focused group of thinkers who love to build, paint, write and encourage each other.
This year my students are very eager and truly enjoy STEM and hands-on project-based learning! These students are a very focused group who love to incorporate technology in their day. My students are learning how to use T.E.A.M (Together Everyone Achieves More) to communicate and help support one another! We can accomplish so much when we work as a TEAM!
My Project
Art is a very important component of elementary education. I like to incorporate as much as I possibly can. Often times I end up spending my own personal money to make sure the students have the proper supplies to complete a project.
Creativity is a universal language that can be spoken through art.
The cardboard picture frames will be used as personalized parent gifts for end of the year school pictures and holiday gifts for next year. The wooden circles and blank puzzle pieces will offer students a variety of materials to make the perfect parent and volunteer gifts.
