My Students

My 6th grade students come from low-income households, the majority of which are Navajo. There are a range of ability levels, from gifted to those who are reading two or more grade levels below their grade.

The multi-cultural make-up of my students and the wide range of abilities makes teaching these awesome kids a fun and interesting challenge every day!

Watching them become more informed about their world, become more comfortable with expressing themselves, and enjoy reading make my day!

My Project

I always advocate for choice when it comes to my students' learning styles. Having these comfortable seating alternatives will allow students to make the best choice for themselves and their own learning. When students are given the freedom to choose their seating, they understand that responsibility comes with that choice, and they will choose wisely.

My students also need to develop their current events literacy and knowledge so they can become better informed citizens.

The Time for Kids magazines that they will read each week will help them succeed with understanding and discussing events, places, and people in their world.
