My students need flexible seating options in the classroom to help with their wiggles. With a variety of soft seats, lap desks, wobble cushions and balance balls they will have access to a variety of seating.
My students are hard working, resilient and incredible life long learners. Everyday when I come in to work I am constantly blown away by their passion, creativity and dedication to learning.
Many of my students have a hard time sitting for a long period of time.
Have you ever felt the same way during a long meeting? Has the chair you sat on caused discomfort? Imagine being seven and having that same experience.
Students spend more time at school during the day then they do at home. I want to create a classroom environment that is magical and makes them feel like they are right at home.
My Project
I cannot tell you how many times I have been uncomfortable sitting in a chair all day. In elementary schools we are provided with basic chairs that are not comfortable. This is an issue with students that have ADHD, ADD and simply students that are young! Often, my students will choose to sit on the floor or stand rather than sit in the chair provided.
This past year I bought stools that were a total game changer in my room.
My students would argue over who got to sit in them and they became magical chairs that somehow helped students produce stronger work. This launched my drive for flexible seating options for the 2018-2019 school year.
With having several flexible seating options in the classroom, students will be able to choose where they would like to sit for instruction and HOW they would like to sit. It might be on a cushion, wobbly chair, stool or even a bouncy ball! With this donor's choose request I would be able to provide flexible seating throughout my room (not just the 5 stools I currently have) that would make ALL of my students feel more comfortable at school while helping their wiggles!
