My Students

Each year I am blessed with a group of 20-25 awesome first grade students. My first graders love school, love their friends, and love to learn! They are curious about the world and love to read about all sorts of topics. My first graders are thoughtful, kind to others, and compassionate.

Even though all students in my class are first graders, the method and environment in which they learn varies greatly.

I like to incorporate a variety of learning strategies and alternative seating choices to ensure each student's needs are met.

My Project

During a typical school day, each student spends time reviewing lessons individually on a Chromebook. These lessons vary daily between math and language arts and require concentration. During this computer work time, it is important for students to be able to focus their attention and to feel comfortable.

Research has shown that when students are more comfortable, they are able to more effectively focus their attention to the task at hand.

They are able to put forth their best effort, are more engaged, and take an active role in their learning. Having these cushioned seats in our classroom, will allow students to be more comfortable while completing their required computer activities.
