This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I am a first year teacher; therefore, I have not met my class yet. However, I grew up in Georgetown County and I anticipate my students being eager to learn and full of excitement. I can not wait to meet my first class of third graders!

My Project

This large carpet will allow our class to gather together many times throughout each day. We will place the carpet in the front and center of our room so we can have easy access to it. I plan on gathering, reading, and holding morning meeting on this comfy carpet everyday. During morning meeting, we will share and sit together on this carpet. During independent reading my students will have an opportunity to sit on the carpet to enjoy their books in their Book Buddy Bags. This carpet will help our class gather and it will give us a close space where my students can all learn together.
