Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our kindergarten and first grade students represent a diverse population of students who love learning. These years are critical to building early reading skills and building a love of learning and reading. Our school provides a multi-sensory approach to learning while providing a balanced literacy program which leads to true engagement among students in reading. Our pre-k, kindergarten and first grade students are beginning to set goals for themselves as readers and are so eager to grow in their reading. Our school mission is to do whatever it takes to meet the needs of our students so they experience success, safety, fun and enjoyment, freedom and independence, valued purpose, and love and belonging.
My Project
A flexible learning space provides students opportunities for choice around their seating. When we give students control of their choice of seating, they will be more likely to feel comfortable and ready to complete their work.
The students I support love flexible learning spaces.
This seating will provide them opportunities to collaborate and also be able to complete their work. These spaces are designed for primary learners. The students I work with are eager to learn and these flexible learning spaces will provide them individual work spaces that can be utilized for both independent and collaborative work depending on the task.
