My Students

Do you remember being told to read in school while sitting at your desk? I am trying to make reading comfortable and enjoyable for my third grade students. I am encouraging them to increase their attention spans while reading and being comfortable while doing this!

Our third grade class is an urban school in upstate New York.

My students need a place to be comfortable while reading. I am trying to encourage my students to be life long learners and to enjoy reading for pleasure as well as for assignments in school. Allowing them to leave their desk and get comfortable in different areas around our classroom will let them know that they can enjoy reading in school and at home. Having a new classroom rug will allow students to relax and read on the new rug!

My Project

Replacing the old classroom carpet in our classroom will brighten up the room and encourage students to read and write on the rug. As a third grade teacher, I will also feel more comfortable teaching lessons and having classroom meetings on our new classroom rug.

Having a comfortable place for students is so important in their education.

This will encourage them to participate as a classroom community and allow for students to feel comfortable while at school. I really want my students to enjoy reading and providing them with a place to relax and read is extremely important to me.
