Who are my students? They are dreamers, thinkers, talkers, and questioners. They are mini inspirations to themselves and others around them, even if they don't know it yet. They are budding ambassadors, world travelers, scientists, entrepreneurs, and teachers. They are our future and I want to give them a great start to their long successful career.
How can we close the achievement gap when students do not have the necessary materials to succeed?
Well, when I work, I want to be comfortable and sometimes it is not at a desk. The new furniture/materials will provide students with a different option besides a hard chair. Many students also have attention concerns and being able to move and change seating can eliminate the behavior issues that may arise.
My Project
These resources will allow our class to "FULLY" function on a multi-sensory level that is inductive for each and every student within the classroom. It will also help them to perform at their best ability. Having the opportunity to sit comfortably while reading, or completing any type of assignment can be a luxury (as sad as that sounds) in many typical classrooms. I want to allow my students the opportunity to learn and perform at their best, while feeling their best! With your donations to provide the large cushion seating options and other fun seating choices, they will be able to bring their individual book bins with them! The book bins were an item in my last order that got cancelled. I did try to get the ones that would be the most affordable, yet they were not available when we needed them. This will help to keep them organized and "on the go!" I have personally witnessed the success of having a flexible seating option within my classroom for the last 3 years. I am only trying to improve upon this practice each year as I learn more about the various types of needs for ALL of my students. Please help us succeed in meeting our goal!
