Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are Second graders in an inner city Title I low income high poverty school district. I have 26 students that are from very diverse backgrounds and 95% qualify for free breakfast and lunch.

My students are faced with many challenges in their young lives but they love being in school and are eager learn and to put into action what they are learn.

They are inquisitive and very social within their learning environment. They absolutely love reading and helping each other whether it be in reading a good book or persevering when solving a math problem. They strive to do their best on a daily basis and love to share the work they have done.

My Project

We need materials to be organized to read! It is difficult for students to be independent when working when they cannot locate materials needed. For this reason it is essential that the classroom materials be organized so they are accessible to each child.

With our reading program it is important that my students can independently locate books and other materials.

I will be using these materials to build and foster independent reading skills in my students. Using these materials will help foster the independent skills needed as everything will be organized, labeled and easily accessible in one area. I also help to achieve a level of personal organization for my students as they will see how important it is to have materials organized will help facilitate their learning.

With your generosity and support my students will have the opportunity to have new supplies that will bring them to foster a love of learning by having materials at their fingertips. My students have many different learning styles and these materials will support all of my students to show their knowledge the best way they can.
