My Students
The students directly benefiting from this projects are those in our English Language Arts 3 Honors American Literature course for 5 high school credits.
They are 90 out of 800 students who have been accepted into the top high school in the entire state.
The high school is a public school within the second largest school district in New Jersey. 100% of the students are college bound and are consistently taking numerous advanced placement courses that count as college credits as well.
My Project
Nathaniel Hawthorne's Scarlet Letter is the first novel read for the 2018-2019 academic school year for Grade 11 English Language Arts 3 Honors American Literature students.
Our students should be able to get their own copy of the reading material to annotate and keep for their own personal libraries at homes.
Currently, they are using used copies that have to be returned and used with future students the coming school years. All the while, they are forced to take extra care of this materials and keep notes on separate pieces of papers and notebooks. There is nothing like building a relationship and having a conversation with the book by writing directly on its pages.
