Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In this age of technology it is very important to help encourage young students to be out and physically active. My young students need these materials in order to help them develop their fine and large motor skills and encourage them to be outside.
I have 23 energetic Kindergartners, who are still working on their gross motor skills.
The students in my class have lots of energy and need a variety of ways to release that energy throughout the day in order to help them be able to focus during my instructional time. 90% of my students this year are English Language Learners and have not had a great deal of exposure to structured outdoor activities. This is only the 2nd year that our school has been open, because of budget cuts our district is unable to provide us with a Physical Education teacher or play equipment for the students to use.
My Project
We need activity play materials in order to work on their fine and large motor skills and to keep them physically active. The resources that I requested will help us be able to teach our students how to play group structured games that help them stay physically active and improve their gross motor skills. Since we cannot afford a PE teacher each of the teachers has to teach their students PE themselves and these resources will be able to help us structure our PE time. W
We will be able to introduce obstacle courses, hopscotch, rump rope, kickball, soccer, and a variety of other group games that will help the students stay fit and learn how to effectively participate in group sports. From having these resources my students will learn how important it is for them to stay physically active and help them learn what teamwork is.
By donating to this project you could help young students become interested in sports and staying physically active early on in life, which will help them stay healthy and do well in school as they matriculate through.
For the population of students at our school having this exposure to physical activities will probably be the only chance the majority of my students will have to be able to learn how to play group sports. Please help my students see how important it is to be physically active!
