This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We use math everyday. My kids need to have a solid program that will get them on track with their peers.

I teach fifth graders in an urban district in Upstate New York.

We are the fifth poorest city in the United States. Along with the high poverty, come low test scores and low self - esteem. My kids need to be empowered to do well in math. Every career that they would choose has some amount of math involved.

My Project

My students have fallen through the cracks. They have moved from one program to another. They don't have the strong foundation that they need to build on. I want a program that comes with practice worksheets and assessments that are aligned with the Common Core. More importantly, I want a program that scaffolds for differing abilities. The program I use now has a 'one size fits all' structure. I have to modify the lessons for my students who are struggling. This is very time consuming and I am not very effective at it. This program would be the piece that is missing in my curriculum now.

Please help me to help my students the best that I can.

These resources will help to create a life - time of love for math after they learn to be confident in their abilities. Thank you for your consideration.
