Help me give my students hands-on science tools to help provide more memorable learning experiences. Having tools such as jumbo magnifiers will help the students become more interactive with their materials.
I have the best job ever. I get to start each day with high fives and hugs. My students start each day with such joy and excitement. I teach at a very high poverty school. Most of the students receive free lunches and take home backpacks of food on Friday.
In spite of the hardships that many of these students have been through, they still come to school smiling and ready to learn.
My hope for their future is that they will see that they are destined for greatness. I want them to realize that they can rise above anything life throws at them.
These students amaze me daily. They make teaching the most rewarding profession and teach me as much as I teach them.
My Project
Getting these materials in the hands of my first graders could offer them so many different learning opportunities. The Dinosaur Bones Match and Sort could be used in so many different ways. It would be used in math for counting, matching, sorting and measuring. It would be such a fun learning experience to bring in some potting soil and allow the students to actually dig for the bones to use in the math station. I would incorporate the magnifying glasses into this to allow the students a closer look. I would love to have the magnetic set to help engage the students in their learning. They could learn how magnets attract and repel different objects and how magnets work.
