In my school, I never go through a day without a student's big smile and happy wave. My students come from a high poverty area where resources are stretched thin. We are a Title I school where 83% of my students receive free or reduced-priced lunch.
Often, my students struggle in school and really deserve the supplies they need to meet the standards they will be tested on.
They are all visual learners and need concrete examples to help them understand and comprehend the skills they are learning. I have taught third grade for 5 years and have been a member of ATPE for all 5. I love what I do and love ATPE.
My Project
With the floor table and area rug my students will have the opportunity to get out of their seats and work comfortably on the floor. Nobody likes to sit in a boring desk all day! These materials will provide them with another option. We will also use this area for stations and have Chromebooks set up on the table for games and reading tests. The bookshelf will be used to highlight special books that covers topics we are learning about so that students can easily read them. We also are also asking for lap tables that the students will be able to use to work around the room. We are so excited for the possibility of a classroom where we get to move around!
