This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are very eager to learn no matter what background they come from. As a second grader, my students are slowly being exposed to becoming more mature students and taking responsibility for their actions, but more importantly, their learning.
My students have triumphed no matter what cards have been handed to them and my hopes are to continue to help them succeed.
My students want to learn. They want to be successful. And because they want to, they will.
My Project
Having a variety of flexible seating options will really get my students actively involved in their learning- literally! Not only will it give them more opportunities to get comfortable in their learning environment, but it will give them the freedom of choice along with teaching them responsibility.
With this project, I hope to give my students a sense of freedom and choice when it comes to their learning and most of all, help them feel at home in our classroom.
If we as adults don't like to sit still for 7+ hours a day, why would we make energetic 7 year olds do it? With flexible seating, they don't have to!
With flexible seating, my students will have access to a variety of seating choices to meet their daily (but if I'm being honest, their constant changing) needs. If they would like to sit at a desk, they can grab a traditional chair, a balance ball (hello core and posture workout in the process!), or a wobble stool! They can also grab a clipboard and a wobble cushion, a comfy floor seat, or a bean bag chair and get cozy in various spots of the room, all while completing their work. Don't you wish your office was that flexible?
