I have 22 fifth grade students who are attending the first STEAM magnet school in the county. A day in my classroom starts with students scheduling their day by choosing what, when, and how they would like to complete their learning.
My students are provided with voice and choice in their learning and are required to take individual responsibility for their learning.
I encourage students to fail forward, in order to learn from their experiences and persevere when faced with challenges.
My Project
I would love to be able to attend the Get Your Teach On conference in Orlando, Florida. I will have the chance to learn research-based strategies for student engagement, classroom management, as well as reading, math, writing, and vocabulary instruction. The conference is led by Hope and Wade King, and other expert presenters who will share their passion and enthusiasm for education. I cannot wait to learn some new tips, tricks, best practices, and other teacher secrets to building a successful and engaging classroom.
I know that I will leave GYTO feeling empowered, challenged, motivated, equipped, and prepared to create dynamic and engaging lessons that will challenge my students and leave them hungry for more.
I hope to bring back ideas to create fun, exciting, and rigorous lessons filled with games, room transformations, and hands-on activities that can be used across all subject areas. I will also be able to come back to my school and share what I have learned so they can implement these strategies with their students. These funds will go towards my registration fee. Thank you so much for considering my project!
