Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. More than half of my students come from low income households.
One third of my class is made up of students who receive Special Education services.
Despite the many challenges they face, they come to school every day eager to learn. Our school serves students in grades K-8 and provides rigorous academics, fantastic teachers and a safe learning environment. A goal of mine is to provide my students with a safe and exciting classroom.
My Project
I would like to attend Get Your Teach On Workshop in October 2019. This workshop is a hands-on learning workshop in which we get to be the student for the day and bring home teaching materials and lessons that can be implemented directly into our classrooms. We will get to learn fun and engaging strategies to use in our classrooms that are research based and beneficial to students of all ability levels.
With the demographics of our school changing year to year and the individual learners themselves changing, it is essential that we find new strategies and tools to help our classroom full of unique students engage with our lessons.
This workshop will give us the tools and resources we need in order to bring our lessons to life and make learning fun for our students. Get Your Teach On will be a great opportunity for us to expand our knowledge and teaching practices and implement them across our grade level. We are excited and eager to learn from some of the most engaging and talented educators!
