My students are a diverse group of learners in an urban public school. Our entire school district qualifies for free breakfast and lunch. My classroom is a mixture of regular education and special education learners in our classroom. This means there is a vast span of learners on the learning continuum. My students come from a very low socioeconomic status. They thrive with hands on learning and engaging lessons. They want to learn and achieve at the same rate as their peers in neighboring school districts.
My second graders are enthusiastic hands on learners who love to share their knowledge and expertise in the classroom with their peers.
The Get Your Teach On, professional development will allow me to gain new information and insight from my colleagues and other educators. It will help me to use new engaging learning strategies, not only for STEM, but across all subject areas. This experience will give me new engaging, fun, and rigorous activities to use in my classroom.
My second graders will gain a great deal of knowledge from the information and strategies that I gain at the Get Your Teach On conference for years to come!
I cannot wait to bring all of these wonderful ideas back and implement them in my room.
