Mrs. Schechter from Sunrise FL is requesting professional development through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
I need the opportunity to attend the Get Your Teach On Conference and learn new ways to engage and inspire students from incredible educators, like Hope & Wade King!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I have 40 inquisitive and tactile learners who are finding their passion for math and science. Their positive attitude toward learning and open minds help create a fun and unpredictable learning environment. I always look for ways to match their excitement with hands-on activities where they can ask questions and I can help relate it to what they are learning, or the other way, where they can have hands-on experience with content we have already front-loaded.
My students are always seeking more.
If I assign 10 questions for math homework, they come back the next day with 15 questions done. If we participate in a scoot word problem activity, they go home and write their own word problems and ask for it to be in our next word problem activity! In my seven years of teaching, I have never experienced this level of passion and commitment from my fifth graders. They are always keeping me on my toes and help push me further as we all dive deeper into our content. They continue to push me every day!
My students this year have a passion and hunger for education that has brought new life to my classroom! On any given day, you can walk in my classroom and I guarantee that you will see movement, discussion, and engagement. My students' determination and motivation, has pushed me to want to continue my own education.
This two-day conference will allow me an opportunity to learn from top educators around the nation.
I will be able to share and learn best practices from passionate educators. Just watching this conference through social media makes me feel empowered and has given me new ideas to create meaningful, innovative lessons in my classroom. I can't imagine the effect that this conference will have on me as a teacher if I am given the opportunity to attend in person.
It has been a long-term goal of mine to attend Get your Teach On the conference, and now that it is making its way to Orlando, I know this is my year! I need your help. Being able to attend this conference will help me achieve my goal and help me inspire 40 students who are waiting to take their learning to the next level.
