Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have been a third-grade teacher in a diverse and urban school for seven years. My students are a hard-working, creative, and diverse group of learners. They come to school ready to learn, and I want to give them a safe, happy, productive classroom.
I teach at a Title I school in Houston where 90 percent of the students receive free lunch.
Some of the students in my school participate in the Backpack Buddy program. My students are third grade English Language Learners. Despite the adversity, my students are eager to learn and do their best.
My Project
I am requesting funds to attend Get Your Teach On Conference. I want to learn some new and innovative strategies that I can implement in my classroom. The two-day conference has some of the top educators as presenters and I would love to learn from them. I believe as a teacher we should never stop learning, and meaningful professional development helps us to keep improving our skills. The knowledge that I learn from this conference will allow me to help countless learners increase their knowledge by providing them with instruction suited just for them.
