Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Many of the kindergartners in my classroom come from low-income families. Several of my students live in a one-parent home and quite a few are learning English as a second language. Our school qualifies as a Title l school and the entire student body is eligible to receive free and reduced-price breakfast and lunch. Despite these obstacles, the kiddos in my class come to school with a smile on their face, a song in their heart, and best of all, a desire to learn.
My kiddos aspire to try new things and embrace learning.
Each day they show me that they are ready to learn. As a teacher, there is no better feeling than watching them thrive and grow. But most of all, I love that these kids are always ready to enjoy new challenges.
My Project
My students enjoy multiple ways to learn. To have the freedom to move about the room and sit in a location of their own choosing often allows my kiddos creative juices to flow. The flexible seating chairs will let my students go off into an area of their choosing and do just that. Likewise, the white boards offer an alternative to the traditional pencil and paper, and, like the flexible seating, can move with a child as they chose. Both of these items will give my students the mobility they desire.
Who doesn't remember the thrill of receiving a new weekly magazine to read?
I know that the kids in my class will enjoy reading about what they are learning in the classroom while having the opportunity to share with their classmates and families.
