Help me give my students UV materials so I create an extremely fun and engaging learning environment in which they can learn and practice rigorous skills throughout the year.
I work in an amazing building with a tremendous staff where our school-wide motto is "Kids First"! I have been teaching for 22 years, but this is my first year teaching 2nd grade.
My students come from various backgrounds with varying needs.
They come from a wide range of economic and cultural backgrounds. We have a blended classroom community of bilingual students, TAG students, low income and middle class families, and students with special needs in different areas. This makes it important to reach the needs of all students at different levels.
We have a very involved parent Booster Club and quite a few parent volunteers. They help to make sure our students have what they need, but it takes a lot to surround our students with what they need to be successful.
My Project
I am requesting ultraviolet neon glow resources for this project that will allow my students to experience their learning in a fun and exciting way. I just returned from the Get Your Teach On conference in LA and am so excited to bring fun learning experiences into my classroom! I incorporate interactive learning into my classroom to foster a sense of community and excitement about learning. These materials will add to that environment.
We will use these UV/neon glow materials throughout the entire year to create an engaging learning environment where children are excited to come to school and learn!
The UV black lights will be used to set the stage and allow students to use highlighters and other neon materials such as paper, index cards, cups, and glow sticks in a more interactive and fun way. Students will also be able to play "glow games," games that allow students an opportunity to practice their reading, writing, and math skills in an interactive and highly engaging manner. Games like Jenga, with the UV tape on the blocks, can be played in connection with math problems, writing activities, or reading questions. This fun level of engagement makes all the difference in their desire to learn. All non-consumable materials such as the UV black light will be used by other teachers in our building as well!
