Mrs. Robinson from Atlanta GA is requesting educational kits & games through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a fun, interactive, engaging introduction to financial literacy with a variety of monopoly board games, math games, and math journals to reflect on their attitude toward the state of the economy.

My international students make up a classroom of diverse students from several different countries including China, Africa, Peru, Haiti, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic. They are mostly newcomers to the United States and are learning the English language for the first time. The multicultural classroom not only allows students opportunity to speak English effectively but also the opportunity to learn tolerance and respect for other cultures in a positive, nurturing climate. The objective is to learn to speak English fluently.
Even though the students are new to the country, they exhibit tremendous respect for education.
There is a value placed on education, and it is reflected in their work ethics. The students strive to attempt and complete all assignments with enthusiasm. The zeal created in this atmosphere is amazing and contagious.
These financial resources will promote economical literacy and help students understand the significance of socioeconomics in their community. It will encourage students to learn and appreciate financial literacy in fun but non threatening setting. In the journals, students will write about their perception of the economy and their attitudes toward money. Students will participate in prewriting activities before experiencing the game of financial literacy and respond to post writing after the monopoly experience. Also student will be introduced to a list of financial terms that they will define and be able to reference periodically from their journals. The resources will impact the students’ live because it will improve their financial literacy so that they understand the value of the American dollar.
